Location: 10 mi (15 km) northeast of the city of Chiang Mai, or 11 mi
(18 km) to the Tha Phae Gate, or 4 mi (7 km) to the Doi Saket district
center, in non-touristy countryside, between two villages, in a fenced,
quiet and secure 1.7 acre (7000 m², or 4 rai ) private property with
park-like natural garden and a few houses.
Size of private areas: Living area in the house 218 ft² (20 m²), plus
open living area in the house 218 ft² (20 m²), plus exterior living area
(terrace, garden), about 1,000 ft² (100 m²).
Buildings: Detached little house consisting of 3 floors. The uppermost
floor comprises 1 mosquito-tight bedroom with queen-size bed
(mattress 5 × 6.5 ft = 152 × 200 cm), wall-fan and shelves, and is
surrounded by a narrow roofed veranda providing panoramic views.
The middle floor is an open living space with sitting area and wall-fan.
The ground-floor comprises a mosquito-tight living room (with table
fan) with 2 window-doors facing the pond, the room includes a
kitchenette (fully equipped, e.g. electric stove with 1 or 2 hobs,
microwave, refrigerator, sink). The bathroom, detached to the main
house, is with hot shower (gas), hand-wash basin and western type
toilet. A nearby laundry hut comprises a washing machine. On request:
An outdoor cooking spot (gas, 1 hob) can be provided next to the
kitchenette, and a laptop friendly workspace can be provided in the
open living space. Out-door living area, comprising: Deck adjacent to
the living room, with nice views over the natural pond; a designed tiny
garden (lakeside) with a private direct access to the natural community
swimming pond, and with a separate sitting area overlooking the pond
and also suitable to attach a hammock to tree trunks.
Shared: Park-like natural community garden, with pathways, sitting
areas, canals, bridges, ponds, tall trees and bamboos, wild edible
plants and fruit trees, most of the area can be explored and used for
recreation. The natural swimming pond, 300 ft (90 m) long and 23 ft (7
m) deep, is accessible for the community, and can also be used for
boating and fishing on request.
Facilities: WiFi Internet throughout, tap water (drinkable), electricity
220 V, parking (1 car or 1 motorbike) within the property, using the boat
on the big pond, using barbecue equipment in the garden.
Food: Self-catering. Delivery services for groceries and ready meals
(Thai, Western) are available. A few food stalls serving Thai dishes,
and small grocery stores for daily needs are within walking distance.
Transportation: Public transportation from the street adjacent to the
property, fare to Chiang Mai 60 Baht. App-based car-sharing service
from Grab available. Private transportation by renting a car, motorbike,
scooter or bicycle, details on request.
Pets: Several cats and one dog live outdoors on the property.
Therefore, guests with their own pets unfortunately can not be
Suitability: This unique stilt-house is best suitable for a person or
couple who likes nature and an inspiring tranquil environment, e.g. a
couple in the honeymoon, writers, artists, digital nomads, for people on
long-stay vacation and sabbatical leave. For a longer stay, e.g. half a
year or longer, this home is best for a single person, not for a couple.
For a handicapped person, and for a child below the age of 12 years,
this home is not suitable.
Rental rates: 7,000 Baht per month (1-year contract, 1 person), plus
utilities. Rates for other long-term stays, as well as for short-term stays
